Position Role:
Idaho National Laboratory is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Business Development Manager, Alternative Fuels Technologies. The position is responsible for developing and executing strategic and tactical approaches that will connect national laboratory scientists and engineers with significant research, development, and demonstration projects and programs related to synthetic hydrocarbon fuels. This position is an integral part of a major investment center for the Laboratory.

Responsibilities of this position include identification of opportunities and translation of those opportunities into funded applied-research programs. Important elements of this challenge include: developing and maintaining excellent relationships with relevant customer, providing stewardship to acquire research-program opportunities, fostering Laboratory brand and presence within commercial and federal markets, representing Laboratory interests with local, regional and national governments, and maintaining excellent professional relationships with Laboratory staff.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated business, strategic development, and/or leadership record in fossil energy markets, preferably in synthetic fuels, and established professional relationships in those markets (federal or commercial). The ideal candidate would have an advanced degree in engineering, chemistry, or physics and have applied that education for at least 20 years in the commercial fossil-energy sector in positions of increasing responsibility that have included investment responsibility in the technical-development regime and a stellar record of investment return measured not only by income, but also by increasing influence with customers and demonstrable capability growth. Experience with the federal market sector would be of significant interest. The successful candidate must be a mission- and results-driven individual who can quickly identify and exploit the intersection of market needs and national laboratory capabilities.
