The Electricity Markets and Policy Group needs someone for its Green Team. Could that be you?

We are currently seeking a flexible Senior Research Associate to join our Environmental Energy Technolgies Division. As a part of the Electricity Markets and Policy Group, the Senior Research Associate will conduct analysis of public interest policy issues associated with electricity markets. Examples of the focus include market structure and design, resource planning and assessment, electric system reliability, role of energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy and distributed generation resources, and retail energy markets. With guidance and supervision from staff scientists, will participate in ongoing research projects by:
• Providing technical assistance to cities and states on energy efficiency programs, including financing programs and building retrofit programs funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
• Conducting studies that analyze innovative financing programs targeted at residential and commercial owners that utilize Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program designs.
• Review and analyze energy efficiency programs that are being administered by state and local governments as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
• Analyzing synergies between programs funded by ARRA and existing ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs; developing methods to identify and report on "best practices" in innovative financing programs.
• Performing energy analysis related tasks as funding and workload dictates.

Qualifications
• Graduate degree in energy & resources or public policy, economics, engineering and at least two years of related work experience.
• Demonstrated familiarity with energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed resource programs and technologies and electric power systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to identify and obtain information from diverse sources, conduct survey research, and collaborate with other researchers.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage large databases and develop complex electronic spreadsheets for energy and economic analysis.
• General familiarity with energy efficiency programs.
• Strong quantitative skills to conduct financial and economic analysis of energy efficiency projects and programs.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Powerpoint for data analysis and presentation.
• Interest in energy and environmental issues is preferred.

Notes
This is a part time (at least 50%) or full time, one year term appointment with the possibility of renewal or conversion to career based on performance, business needs, and continuation of funding.

This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.
