Position Summary

Job Title: Computational Sci Post Doc Fellow
Req Number: 23454
Division: Environmental Energy Tech
Department: Building Technologies

Be Part of Something Great

The Building Technologies Department has an opportunity for a Computational Science Post Doc to develop the next generation of building energy modeling, simulation and analysis tools for the design and operation of low energy buildings.

As a Post Doc you will conduct research and implement software that enables modeling, simulation and analysis of building energy and control systems in support of the design and operation of Net Zero Energy Buildings. You will also develop and implement object-oriented equation-based simulation models of building energy systems and their control algorithms, link domain-specific simulation programs to each other, and conduct simulation-based studies to analyze the performance of integrated building control algorithms.

Key Success Factors
• Recent (within 2 years) PhD in mechanical engineering, computer science, architectural engineering or a related building science field.
• Expertise in thermal sciences, controls and system simulation.
• Experience using or developing mathematical models for building energy simulation or related fields is desired.
• Demonstrated knowledge of one or more programming languages, preferably C/C++, Modelica, Java and Fortran.
• Experience in using either whole building energy analysis programs (such as EnergyPlus, DOE-2, ESP) or solvers for nonlinear systems of algebraic and differential equations (Dymola, TRNSYS, Simulink, EES).
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Notes
This is a one year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on performance and continuation of funding.
