Position Summary
Job Title: Chemist Postdoctoral Fellow Req Number: 23994 Division: Environmental Energy Tech Department: Advanced Energy Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory is providing solutions to scientific problems! Are you someone who can make a difference on our team? We are currently seeking a Chemist Postdoctoral Fellow to join our Environmental Energy Technologies Division. The postdoctoral fellow will focus on the area of nanomaterials for energy applications by electronic structure calculations, conducting research to investigate ionic diffusion, electronic state, phase stability and surface structures of nanomaterials relevant for energy storage. The Chemist Postdoctoral Fellow will: • Perform electronic structure calculations on nanomaterials and bulk. • Perform calculations to predict thermodynamic and kinetic properties. • Develop codes as necessary to assist existing code frameworks. • Analyze and present results. Qualifications: • A Ph.D. in physics/chemistry/materials science or a related field is required. • Experience in electronic structure calculations. • Proven expertise in code development. • Exceptionally good written communication skills. • The ability to work as an independent researcher with a high level of scientific judgment and initiative. • Participate in collaborative efforts as a member of a diverse research team. • Good communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to support Principal Investigators in preparing proposals and project management is preferred.
